After studying mechanical engineering with a focus on testing and development at the universities of Munich and Coburg and a semester abroad in New York at Lotepro Corp., a subsidiary of the former Linde AG, Alexander Koelle studied law at the Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich. Since completing his legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court of Munich, he has worked in the field of intellectual property law, including a stint at the European Patent Office (EPO) in the patent law department in 1999. He was admitted to the German Bar in 2001. In 2007, the Munich Bar Association awarded him the title “Specialist Lawyer for Tax Law”. He is also active in trademark law, in particular in trademark cancellation and trademark infringement proceedings as well as trademark applications before the DPMA, EUIPO and WIPO. Alexander Koelle’s practice area also includes contract law, in particular licensing law and R&D contracts as well as confidentiality obligations, in particular with regard to trade secrets.
